  • Stay alert to storm advisories

  • Know “Watch” and “Warning” definitions

  • Enact your Family Disaster Plan

  • Map out your route

Don’t get on the road without a place to go! Use travel routes specified by local authorities. View West Palm Beach traffic reports.

  • Fill your car with gasoline

  • Evacuate if told to do so

  • Evacuate Early – don’t get stranded!

  • If you have a late start, opt for an Area Shelter

If you’re not sure you will make it to your destination on time, choose from one of our many Area Shelters. Traffic and a lack of hotel vacancies can keep you from getting to your primary safe place.

  • Bring your Disaster Supply Kit

  • Secure your home before leaving

  • Get cash

Following a hurricane, banks and ATMs may be temporarily closed.

  • Notify family and friends of your plans
